Trump Is Optimistic After US Strikes On Iran

Donald Trump said he feels optimistic about the progress of the U.S. military operation targeting Iran after the first wave of strikes began on Saturday. In public comments, the president indicated that the mission was proceeding successfully and suggested that developments so far had been encouraging.

During a phone interview with CNBC, Trump said the operation was moving faster than expected. He explained that “everything is ahead of schedule,” though he acknowledged that the ultimate outcome of the conflict would depend on several factors. According to Trump, events on the ground were developing in what he described as “a very positive way.”

Trump repeated this view in a separate interview with The Atlantic on Sunday morning. He said Iranian officials were interested in opening discussions and that he was willing to engage in talks. Trump also suggested that negotiations could have started earlier, adding that Iran had delayed responding to proposals that he considered practical and straightforward.

Meanwhile, as the joint U.S. and Israeli campaign entered its third day, Pete Hegseth stated that the mission remained highly precise and focused. Speaking on Monday, he described the military effort as “laser-focused,” emphasizing that the operation was being carried out with clear strategic objectives.
