Karoline Leavitt to Rejoin MAGA Inc. After Leaving White House
Karoline Leavitt will remain active in President Donald Trump’s political operation after leaving her position as White House press secretary at the end of August. Leavitt confirmed Friday that she plans to rejoin MAGA Inc., the Trump-aligned super PAC she previously represented, positioning her for a prominent role as Republicans prepare for the 2026 midterm elections. Speaking with reporters aboard Air Force One, Leavitt made clear that her departure from the White House will not mean stepping away from Trump’s political movement. “You guys will still see me all the time,” she said.
Leavitt’s transition follows Trump’s announcement earlier this month that she would leave the administration to spend more time with her family and two young children. At 28, Leavitt made history when she became the youngest White House press secretary in U.S. history after Trump returned to office in January 2025. Her tenure placed her at the center of the administration’s daily communications strategy and made her one of Trump’s most recognizable public representatives.
Her return to MAGA Inc. also represents a continuation of an earlier chapter in her political career. Before joining Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign as national press secretary, Leavitt worked with the super PAC. She also previously served in the White House press office during Trump’s first administration.
Political Career Continues Outside White House
Leavitt announced her departure after returning from maternity leave following the birth of her daughter in May. She described the decision as difficult, saying the demanding schedule of the press secretary’s position had become increasingly difficult to balance with motherhood. “Serving as the White House Press Secretary over the past year and a half has been the honor and adventure of a lifetime,” Leavitt said when announcing her departure. She also emphasized that her political work was not ending. “President Trump has asked me to continue serving as a top advisor to him on the outside,” she said, adding that she would remain an advocate for the MAGA movement and Republican Party.
Trump has strongly praised Leavitt’s performance, calling her one of his most trusted aides and highlighting her work defending his administration and political agenda. Vice President JD Vance and other senior officials have likewise praised her communications skills and effectiveness in dealing with reporters. Her departure nevertheless leaves Trump facing an important communications vacancy. As of Monday, the president had not publicly announced who will succeed Leavitt as White House press secretary. With Leavitt moving into an outside political role, her continued presence in Trump’s political orbit is expected to keep her involved in the broader Republican campaign effort ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
