America is mourning the loss of one of its most beloved gospel music families after a devastating plane crash reportedly claimed the lives of seven members of the The Nelons and their close companions. The small private aircraft went down in Wyoming while en route to Alaska, leaving behind a legacy of faith, music, and ministry that touched countless lives.

According to early reports, those on board included pilot Larry Haynie and his wife Melissa Haynie, family assistant Melanie Hodges, her daughter Amber Hodges and Amber’s husband Nathan Kistler, as well as Jason Clark and Kelly Nelon Clark — both key members of the award-winning gospel group.

The only immediate family member not on board, Autumn Nelon Streetman, survived because she did not travel on the flight. In an emotional statement, she expressed gratitude for the prayers and support pouring in from fans and friends, describing her grief as “indescribable” in the wake of the tragedy.

The group had been traveling to participate in the Gaither Homecoming Cruise, where they were scheduled to perform alongside other prominent names in Christian music. The Nelons had spent decades sharing their faith through song, building a devoted following across generations of gospel music listeners.

Witnesses described a terrifying scene, reporting that the twin-engine aircraft appeared to experience mechanical trouble before bursting into flames and crashing into a remote field in Wyoming. Emergency crews responded quickly, but the wreckage was already engulfed in fire when rescuers arrived. Tragically, there were no survivors.

The loss has sent shockwaves through the gospel music community and beyond, as fans, fellow artists, and faith leaders remember The Nelons not only for their musical achievements but also for their message of hope, faith, and compassion.
