Trump also directly disputed the reports in a post on Truth Social, arguing that the New York ceremony has traditionally been a solemn occasion rather than a political speaking event.
He criticized a report suggesting that he was avoiding the World Trade Center because organizers would not permit him to speak and said the account was inaccurate. Trump emphasized that he had attended numerous events in New York over the years and noted that public officials generally do not deliver speeches during the ceremony at the World Trade Center site. “I would love not to speak, because I’m speaking all the time,” Trump wrote, adding that September 11 should instead be a day dedicated to remembering the victims and their families.
