Ashley Biden, the youngest daughter of former President Joe Biden, filed for divorce from her husband, Dr. Howard Krein, after more than 13 years of marriage, according to court records and reporting from the Philadelphia Inquirer. Biden filed the paperwork in Philadelphia on Aug. 11, 2025. Biden, 44, and Krein, a physician and professor, married in June 2012 in Greenville, Delaware. The couple had been introduced by Biden’s late brother, Beau Biden, about two years before their wedding.

Special Counsel Robert Hur’s 2024 investigation into Biden’s handling of classified documents concluded that criminal charges were not warranted. However, the report included observations about Biden’s memory during interviews, including difficulties recalling certain dates and periods of his life. Those observations later became part of the broader political debate over Biden’s fitness for office, particularly after his widely criticized June 2024 presidential debate performance.
